‘Tis The Season To Chester – and we’re bringing a touch of the alpine slopes and Christmas markets to Aberdeen’s West End.
From Thursday 26 November to Sunday 3 January our Chester Glühwein wooden chalet will be open 7 days from noon to 10pm serving a wide range of warming, rustic food and drink.
Before we get to the good stuff (Bratwurst and beersteins …) here’s the important stuff:
The Alpine Glühwein Chalet is an outdoor experience. As Aberdeen is currently in Tier 2 we’ll have the sides of the marquee down so we can ONLY serve alcohol if it is an accompaniment to a ‘substantial meal’. It’s the law folks – not just something we’ve dreamed up! We’ll be open until 10pm with the last table booking at 8pm. Regulations also mean that guests can’t walk around and mingle and chat to friends at other tables so please help our staff to abide by these rules and regulations set by the government. If we change tiers or regulations are amended, we will adapt to suit. There is no minimum spend. Bookings can be made here by selecting Alpine Glühwein Chalet food and drink option.
We also have a second marquee which will have the side up - and you can book this for drinks only including our hot chocolates, brownies and cookies. Book here selecting Alpine Glühwein Chalet drinks only.
Our merry wintry menu of ‘substantial’ meals includes a Christkindlmarkt selection of German sausages such as Bratwurst and Currywurst, steak ciabatta, chicken burger. Check it out here.
We’ll be adopting the popular German and Austrian culture of ‘kaffee und kuchen’ – coffee and cakes. It wouldn’t be a continental Christmas without a jolly cookie collection so expect warm brownies and freshly made crepes with fillings.
We have a ‘naughty and nice’ drinks menu. On the naughty list - and for the full Alpine après-ski experience we’ll have a constant supply of hot Glühwein and mulled cider. But it wouldn’t be the Chester without a series of seasonal cocktails – and our team have gone all jolly holly this year.
On the nice list we’ve got a lavish yuletide range of hot chocolates – but the cheeky mugs also manage to make it onto the naughty list with the addition of some Christmas ‘spirit’.
We’re operating the Alpine Glühwein Chalet as a stand-alone operation and we have a great outdoor food and drinks menu but please note that guests in this area will only be able to order from this menu and not The Blank Canvas menu which is available inside.
